some dirt and FNGs

I finally have a  line on some dirt for a berm and landscaping, yea happiness (did I say Free!!)).  Also we have a new guy starting on Thursday, this may mean that I finally get to have something resembling a vacation.  I did a little dance at work and freaked out the new guy, he is probably wondering what he has gotten himself into.  YEEAAAAAA!!!!!, oh wait what am I thinking it takes 2 to 3 months to train these guys up.......OH well maybe a vacation in the fall.
It turns out that Tim is not driving to Florida for a funeral for his father, but he will be going to NY later for the "speading of the Ashes" ceremony.
I hope that everyone has a good weekend. Dm

Fracture Factor

Well my wife and I got some stuff done over this weekend.  We picked up a new desk, setup her remote (pillow) speakers, and painted a scrap piece of drywall (to see what the paint would look like in the living room [its GREEN I'm not taking chances!!]).  The problem is that on the way out to get a shade darker of the paint  she twisted her ankle and chipped a bone.  Soooooo we spent Monday evening from 11pm to 2am (my weekend was Sunday Monday) at the ER and then Tuesday (after 4 hrs sleep) going to the doctors and pharmacy.  She is now working from home and I get to take her work to the office to drop it off.
We have a new guy at work, he is pretty quiet, but friendly to the customers.  The boss has him in training/follow the leader mode.  I got to work with him today, but he is not going to be here the rest of the week because his father passed away last night.  He was glad that he got to see his father two weeks ago, and talk to him.  I gave him my radar gun for the drive down, to keep him entertained.  Pray that he has a safe trip, his name is Tim.
as a side note I'm not really watching
Anthony Trollope's The Way We Live Now
but my wife is and it's in the background so I put it up.

ww2 vets

At work today I had a chance to talk with a World War 2 vet. He was (is always) a Marine, and served in the Pacific Theater.   I wish I could have just left work and recorded his memories from the past, about the battles in the Pacific and Korea.  His youth in the Great Depression, and seeing where we are now.   I gave him my business card and told him that I wished to record his oral history for the Marine Corps oral history project.  I hope that he calls.   He seemed to be very open about his past, and concerned about his future.
I worry that soon I will have to leave my job to take care of my mom she is progressively getting worse.  She enjoyed going to mothers day at the Airlie Plantation and getting out but my dad and I had to get her food, which for me is not a big deal, but she couldn't see the pretty food layouts at the buffet.   I wonder about the balance of taking care of her, and of my wife.  dm Gal 6:10

too long I have ben away.

I dread writing.  No more time at work we are so busy.  My roles have changed slowly over the last six months.   I find that I write on this blog when things are not going as well in the world around me.
My dad had to put their last cat to sleep yesterday.  So I drove up to see my mom and make sure that she is ok.  I the months past she has gotten worse. She is now constantly using a walker, and is reverting more and more to japanese, her first language. One that I do not speak.
My wife and I went to see Munich.  A rare human film, though it was long at times.   this 6 day is wearing on me , I must get some sleep
maybe I 'll write in the morning. dm

Well I am wandering around Yorktown, Newport News and Norfolk today. Lisa and I are on a weedend trip.  She is in a business meeting, so I am going to go to some of the local museums that she would not be intersted in. Hope everyone has a good weekend. dm Gal 6:10
